How do solar panels work?

The panels on your roof absorb heat from the sun, even in the dullest of Irish weather. These panels, which we refer to as ‘collectors’ start to heat the water gradually. This water is then pumped through a coil in your water cylinder and is used to heat the water that is stored there.

When you purchase Greentech solar panels, we will also install an easy to use control panel that will ensure you have hot water at all times through the dual use of your boiler/hot water heating system and the solar thermal installation.

The beauty of solar thermal hot water is that in essence it is free. Once you have paid for the initial installation, the water heated through your solar panels is totally free. Any additional costs will be minimal and will normally only arise in the winter months when you need to supplement the solar panels with another heat source to top up your hot water.
